Congressman Doug Collins grew up in Hall County, where he learned about public service from his dad, a Georgia State Trooper, and his mom, a care provider to local senior citizens. Doug graduated from North Hall High School in the district he represents today. He earned a degree in Political Science and Criminal Justice from the University of North Georgia. He later earned his master’s degree in Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, while serving his community full-time as senior pastor at Chicopee Baptist Church.

In November 2006, his constituents elected Doug to represent them in Georgia’s House of Representatives. In his first term representing District 27, Doug earned a law degree from John Marshall Law School in Atlanta. During his time in the state legislature, Doug served House Republicans as the governor’s Floor Leader, shepherding legislation to reform programs like Georgia’s HOPE scholarship in order to secure them for future generations.

In addition to his service as pastor, state representative, and now United States Congressman, Doug has ministered to our country’s military as an Air Force Reserve chaplain since 2002. Stationed at Balad Air Force Base, he served a combat tour in Iraq in 2008.
